Shiffrin with a perfect start - Mölgg best Italian

The 21-year-old Shiffrin built up a large time cushion in the first run, which she defended confidently in the second run. With her time of 1:52,72 minutes, she was 67 hundredths faster than the second-placed Swiss Wendy Holdener. Third place went to Slovakian Petra Vlhova.

"I'm overjoyed. I didn't know where I would be and I didn't expect it to go so well straight away," explained Shiffrin in the winner's interview. She celebrated her second victory in Levi after 2013.

However, the Italian slalom team was unable to make any impact. The experienced Enneberg native Manuela Mölgg performed best. She offered two safe rides and improved from 15th to 13th in the second round. She can look forward to numerous World Cup points. Irene Curtoni, however, took 20th place.

The World Cup program in Scandinavia will conclude on Sunday with the men's first slalom of the season. The first round is scheduled for 10 a.m.
