Shiffrin raves about Kilde and has big plans

The American confirmed on Thursday that she would be taking part in more speed races again in the approaching Olympic season. She skied her last World Cup downhill so far in January 2020. Shiffrin has planned the first fast races in Lake Louise (from November 30th). “But I probably won’t take part in every speed race.” Nevertheless, the fourth overall World Cup victory (2017, 2018 and 2019) of an athlete who has dominated the world of women’s alpine skiing in recent years is clearly taking shape again.

The unexpected death of her father Jeff had thrown the now 69-time World Cup winner off track. After a stroke of fate caused her to withdraw, she returned ten months later with a lack of training and a focus on the technical disciplines. She experienced a kind of emotional “new beginning” with her 44th slalom victory in Flachau at the beginning of January, but ultimately had to give up on herself dominated slalom behind Katharina Liensberger. Comeback on the long bars She only wore the long bars for the World Championships in Cortina, where she promptly won bronze in the Super-G and gold in the combination. In the overall World Cup she always finished third - a good 250 points behind Petra Vlhova.

Her relationship with Aleksander Aamodt Kilde is obviously enriching, not only in a personal sense. Together with the Norwegian overall winner from 2019/20, Shiffrin appeared as a personified power couple at a virtual media event for her ski company Atomic on Thursday. The two talked in a good mood about their relationship and raved about their summer preparations together.

We constantly analyze our rides.” There is also joint fitness training. “It's super motivating in the gym with him.
