Superior victory: Shiffrin still in his own league

Mikaela Shiffrin is three classes better than the entire competition in the slalom. In Maribor she celebrated her seventh victory in the eighth slalom of the season. She laid the foundation for her triumph in the first round when she showed a real skiing gala and led the field by one second. In the decision, only the 18th-best running time was enough for her to wrap up the Maribor double (she had already won the giant slalom on Friday at the same time as Petra Vlhova).

In the end, her victory was clear with a lead of 0,77 seconds despite her cautious performance in the second round - also because her long-term rival Petra Vlhova made a mistake. After the first round in second place, she was relegated to fifth place due to an incorrect drive. Anna Swenn-Larsson, who finished second, was able to celebrate. A special podium for the Swede: three weeks ago she also raced onto the podium in Flachau, but was subsequently disqualified because of a threader.

Third place went to the Swiss Wendy Holdener, who now has 20 podium places in slalom but has never won a race. Chiara Costazza was the best Italian in eighth place. There was no South Tyrolean at the start.
