Siebenhofer is the queen of Cortina – Delago misses the top ten

Cortina d'Ampezzo is her territory: Ramona Siebenhofer also won the second downhill run on Saturday. The Austrian had already triumphed here on Friday (SportNews reported) .

And this time too, Siebenhofer impressed with a clean and confident drive. In the end, the 27-year-old from the Salzburger Land won a real hundredth of a fairy tale. Her compatriot Nicole Schmidhofer, in second place, was just four hundredths behind.

Third place went to Slovenia's Ilka Stuhec (+0,51 seconds). Kira Weidle from Germany (+0,64) narrowly missed the podium in fourth place. Nicol Delago from Val Gardena ended up in eleventh place as the best “Azzurra”.

A downhill run had already taken place in Cortina on Friday; this served as a replacement for the race that was canceled a week ago due to the amount of fresh snow in St. Anton. Delago misses top ten In contrast to the departure on Friday, this time the race started from the original route. The Austrian Stephanie Venier opened the race, followed by Nicol Delago. The Val Gardena woman started the race well and was significantly faster at the top than Venier. However, one or two mistakes crept in as the descent progressed; Delago was not always able to maintain the ideal line.

In the end, Delago took the lead for a short time. However, this only lasted until the next starter, Ramona Siebenhofer. The 27-year-old from Salzburger Land once again showed a sparkling clean ride and crossed the finish line 1,4 seconds ahead of Delago. None of her competitors could come close to this best time, but Siebenhofer had to tremble enormously when Nicole Schmidhofer started the race with start number five and came within four hundredths of Siebenhofer.

For Delago the race ended in eleventh place. This made her the best “Azzurra”, just ahead of Federica Brignone and Nadia Fanchini.
