Victory in Kvitfjell! Dominik Paris is back

What a ride from Dominik Paris. After recent rather disappointing results, the 32-year-old was in a class of his own on Saturday on the 1994 Olympic course. With start number 9, Paris pulverized the best time of the previous leader, Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, by a whopping 55 hundredths of a second. This means Kilde has to wait for his first home win in Kvitfjell. For Paris, however, it was already the fourth triumph in the Norwegian speed classic - and the third in the downhill.

“Domme” celebrated his 21st World Cup victory and his second of the season. He had the first one in Bormio. Paris showed a real masterpiece on Saturday. The South Tyrolean impressed with great body language, drove full speed ahead and chose a risky line. After his 10th place the day before and the downhill results in Beijing (6th) and Kitzbühel (27th and 7th), this wasn't necessarily to be expected. But Paris showed once again in his career what he is made of. A dream trip Afterwards, no one could come close to his dream trip. Not even the ex-aequo winner from Friday, Niels Hintermann, who raced to third place with number 19. He shared the podium place with his compatriot Beat Feuz.

With his second place, Kilde was able to extend his lead in the Downhill World Cup. Before the World Cup final, the Norwegian is 23 points ahead of Feuz and 76 points ahead of Matthias Mayer. Fourth-placed Paris also still has a theoretical chance of getting the downhill ball, 88 points behind. But to do that he would have to win in Courchevel at the end and his competition would have to score next to no points. Paris is one of the best downhill skiers of all time Paris is also one of the best in another ranking. In the downhill victories account, he is in fourth place in the all-time ranking with 17 successes. Only Franz Bracket (4), Peter Müller (25) and Stephan Eberharter (19) can boast even more victories in the fastest discipline of the Ski World Cup.

Christof Innerhofer was also able to improve on Saturday and took 22nd place. On Sunday (11.30 a.m.) there is another Super-G on the program in Kvitfjell.
