Simon Maurberger triumphs in the European Cup

After the first round, Simon Maurberger was already in a promising position in third place. When it came to the decision, the South Tyrolean literally outgrew himself and left all his competitors behind him. He won with a lead of twelve hundredths over the German Sebastian Holzmann. Marc Rochat from Switzerland came third. The leader after the first run, Federico Liberatore from Trentino, did not make it to the finish.

For the World Cup-proven Maurberger, this is the second victory in the second highest international racing series. He celebrated his debut success two years ago in Folgaria. It is the fifth time that he has been on the podium in the European Cup - the first time ever in the slalom.

With Hannes Zingerle in 26th place and Alex Vinatzer and Fabian Bacher, who were also in 27th place, three more South Tyroleans collected points in Chamonix.

Vivien Insam in the points

In the Women's European Cup, Vivien Insam achieved a top 30 placement on Friday evening. The Val Gardena woman took 26th place in the slalom in Melchsee, Switzerland. The victory here went to the Swede Anna Swenn Larsson.
