Alpine skiing: Three South Tyroleans make it into the C squad

For men it is the Ahrntaler Simon Maurberger , as well as the Badia Valley Hannes Zingerle , who belongs to the Carabinieri sports group, the Val Gardena woman from South Tyrol made it to the young women's category Tatiana Nogler Kostner the jump into the C national team.

Simon Maurberger achieved seven podium places at the Marlene Cup this year (the races are also counted as national FIS junior races) and even won at the Speikboden and in St. Vigil in Enneberg. He also reached the podium twice in FIS races, namely in Lusia, where he won the giant slalom, and in Madesimo, where he came third in the same discipline. At the Italian Championships in the general age group, Maurberger achieved 23rd place in the giant slalom and 19th place in the slalom. But even among the juniors, placing fourth (giant slalom) and fifth (slalom) was not enough for a medal. At the Junior World Championships in Jasna, Slovakia, he finished 20th in the slalom and 25th in the giant slalom. In the European Cup, the 19-year-old only finished once in seven starts: in Oberjoch he came 33rd.

Hannes Zingerle came fifth in the super combined at the Junior World Championships, while he finished 15th in the super-G. In the slalom and giant slalom he was eliminated in the first round. The 19-year-old was used three times in the European Cup, but was eliminated in the second round. There were also three failures at the Italian Championships in the general age group (super-G, slalom and giant slalom), while in the juniors he came eighth twice (slalom, giant slalom) and ninth once (super-G). Things went much better at the Marlene Cup. Here Zingerle made it onto the podium three times and finished in the top ten a total of six times. And he also showed his class time and time again in FIS races: Here the man from Val Badia has nine top ten placements (seven times in the giant slalom, two times in the slalom). He achieved his best result in the giant slalom at Abetone, where he came fifth.

The 19 year old Tatiana Nogler Kostner was disqualified in the giant slalom at the Junior World Championships, while she was eliminated in the second round of the slalom. Nogler Kostner was used once in the European Cup, namely in the slalom in Sestriere, where she dropped out in the second round. Things went much better in FIS races. Here the Ladin woman celebrated two victories (super combined in Bardonecchia, slalom in Chiesa Valmalenco) and was also on the podium three more times. Overall, Nogler Kostner achieved ten top ten results. At the Junior Italian Championships, the all-rounder finished seventh in the Super-G and tenth in the downhill. In the general class, however, she came 21st in the slalom, 22nd in the super combined and 26th in the downhill at the national championships. However, there were failures in the giant slalom and downhill.

Maurberger, Zingerle and Nogler Kostner were accepted into the C national team together with Jasmine Fiorano, Jole Galli, Roberta Midali, Martina Perruchon and Laura Pirovano, and Davide Da Villa, Federico Liberatore, Federico Paini, Giovanni Pasini and Tommaso Salain. There are no South Tyroleans on the coaching staff.

The Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI) announced the composition of the junior national team on Tuesday evening. A South Tyrolean trio, two boys and a young lady, made the recording.
