Alpine skiing: Nicole Gius no longer in the national team

The teams were divided into three groups: Athletes up to 15th place in the FIS rankings were drafted into the “World Cup” team, while those from 16th to 30th place were placed in the “A” team. There are a total of five South Tyroleans in the World Cup team: Christof Innerhofer and Dominik Paris for the men, Denise Karbon, Manuela Mölgg and Johanna Schnarf for the women.

Peter Fill, Siegmar Klotz, Manfred Mölgg, Patrick Thaler, Lisa Magdalena Agerer and Verena Stuffer will be in the “A” team next winter, while Werner Heel, Florian Eisath and Lucia Recchia will be in the so-called “National Interest” group became.

Another six South Tyroleans are in the “B” team: Hagen Patscheider, Andy Plank, Riccardo Tonetti, Anna Hofer, Caroline Pichler and Janina Schenk.

Before the slalom in Levi she has to compete in an elimination to qualify for the World Cup. “I knew that I would no longer be considered because they had already stopped taking me to the races in Are. “But I want to try for another year and fight for a place in the World Cup team,” says the 31-year-old from Stelvio, who has taken part in 213 World Cup races in her career and made it onto the podium four times (second in the giant slalom in Kranjska Gora in 2007 and at the slalom in Zagreb 2009 as well as third at the slalom in Semmering 2002 and the giant slalom in Lienz 2007). “Next winter I will concentrate exclusively on the slalom and no longer compete in giant slaloms. I have to thank my sports group in the army for allowing me to continue training with the Pramotton brothers. Without the support of the army I couldn't continue."

Among the coaches, the biggest news is the signing of Alberto Ghidoni and former downhill skier Alberto Senigalesi in the men's speed disciplines, while for the women, Cesare Pastore will strengthen the slalom team.

The downhill skiers will prepare for the new season in South America. The men are first in Las Lenas and then in Usuhaia, the women start in La Parva in Perù and then also move to Usuhaia.
