Ski ace Rebensburg is concerned about equal opportunities

"Restrictions in May are still okay. But if it lasts longer and an imbalance arises compared to other countries, then that could be the case, yes," Germany's top ski racer told kicker: "I simply hope for equal opportunities." Rebensburg hasn't yet returned to skiing since injuring her left knee in early February (a tibial head impression fracture with medial collateral ligament overstretching). "It would be important for me to start skiing at the end of May or beginning of June. Of course, that's also in light of my injury. Therefore, I hope we'll be allowed to travel abroad, specifically to Austria, as soon as possible," she said. The injury has now completely healed. "I'm pain-free and can do anything. The focus is on correcting an imbalance in my legs; my left leg isn't as strong as my right yet." She's currently working out "a lot in the weight room and also outdoors," added the 30-year-old from Kreuth am Tegernsee. Rebensburg plans to kick off the new season at the World Cup opening event on October 24 in Sölden, Austria. The highlight of the winter is the World Championships in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy (February 8-21). In preparation, Rebensburg was supposed to travel to Chile with the German team for snow training at the end of August or beginning of September, but "that doesn't look good at the moment," she said. Other nations, such as Austria and Norway, are currently able to train in their domestic summer ski resorts.
