Women's ski calendar: equal opportunities for everyone

In the past, speed riders have repeatedly criticized the fact that there are too many technical races (slalom and giant slalom) in the World Cup. The downhill and super-G specialists therefore saw themselves at a disadvantage in the fight for the overall World Cup.

This argument no longer applies from now on. The new FIS racing calendar includes 18 speed and technical races for women and men. For men, there are 11 downhill runs, 7 super-Gs, 8 giant slaloms and 10 slaloms. For women, 9 races are planned per discipline.

For Sofia Goggia & Co. there are 3 “home races” on the program this winter. After the women were guests in Cortina on the weekend of January 22nd and 23rd, they will continue at Kronplatz just two days later: a giant slalom will also be held on the Erta slope in the new season. No combination in the World Cup The World Cup will pause for a few weeks in February. Then the Winter Olympics will take place in Beijing (February 4th to 20th, 2022). An alpine combination is also on the program for the men and women at the title fights in China. In the World Cup, however, the combination will be dispensed with again this year.

There will be another parallel giant slalom in Lech/Zürs in mid-November. A parallel team event is also on the agenda at the Olympics, as is the World Cup final in Courchevel. Women's ski calendar: equal opportunities for everyone

The official ski calendars for the 2021/22 World Cup season were recently presented. For women, there will be the same number of races in all main disciplines next year.
