Ski super talent on a visit to South Tyrol: “I want to establish myself at the top”

The only 20-year-old has already won three World Cup races. This happened for the first time in October 2019 in Sölden - at the age of 17. With her aggressive and uncompromising driving style, she has even made it into the top ten four times in the fast Super-G discipline. In terms of talent, she can be expected to have a great career. ...your South Tyrol experiences: “In the winter months and before, I live in Val di Fassa. So I'm often in South Tyrol. For training, but also for racing (for example at the World Cup on Kronplatz). It’s really beautiful here and the mountains are perfect for skiing.”

...her move to Salomon: “I have always skied with Völkl skis since I was little. That's why I wanted to try something new. Especially because I want to do more speed races next winter. The Salomon concept convinced me here. I will compete in my first downhill races in the World Cup next season. That’s why the change was a good fit.”

...homesickness: “I miss New Zealand a lot. In the winter months it is very difficult for me because I am far from home. I'm in Europe practically all winter. During this time I already miss my family and the summer in New Zealand. It’s simply different here, although the culture in Europe does have its advantages.”

...your confidants in the ski circus: “Those athletes who speak English automatically spend more time together. That's why I talk a lot to Canadians and Americans. But above all, I hang out a lot with the girls my age, who I've known since the youth categories. Especially with the US girls.”

...your future goals: “I just have to be more consistent in giant slalom and super-G next season. I was eliminated too many times last year. I would like to establish myself in the top 5 in these disciplines. In the long term, I want to compete for the crystal balls - including the big one (winning the overall World Cup; Note d. Red. ).
