But her immediate resignation is not fixed: in the interview, the completely distraught Vonn also said that she had to think about everything again. The next few days will show how the 82-time World Cup winner actually decides. The fact is that with her departure, whether now or after the end of the season, the ski circus will lose a very big figure. A figure who deserved a better farewell than a retirement in an inconsequential Super-G race.

Clement Noel: At the age of 21, the young Frenchman left the world elite a la Hirscher and Feller behind him in the Wengen slalom and celebrated his first World Cup victory. “Probably the fastest man in the field as a skier,” was the comment of second-placed Manuel Feller, who suggested with another quote that the future belongs to the young boy (who also finished fourth at the Olympics in Pyeongchang): “It’s no shame to be second behind him to be."

The fact that the woman from Val Gardena with starting number 57 finished 32nd and only missed the points by 20 tenths of a second shows that she has great potential - and it is only a matter of time before she and her older sister Nicol are regularly fighting for the better place will fight on the highest ski stage.

South Tyroleans in Wengen: Wengen was not worth a trip for the South Tyrolean gentlemen. In the slalom, Manfred Mölgg was the only local athlete to score World Cup points (he came 12th), and in the speed disciplines there was also no attack on the top ranks. Riccardo Tonetti achieved the best result from a home perspective in the station wagon with eighth place. Don't worry - because this weekend we're going to Kitzbühel.
