Ski World Cup is now coming to South Tyrol

The first training for the descent in Val Gardena is on the program on Wednesday. A Super-G and a downhill event will take place there next Friday and Saturday. This will be followed by the giant slalom and the night parallel giant slalom in Alta Badia on Sunday and Monday.

In addition to the four South Tyroleans Peter Fill, Christof Innerhofer, Dominik Paris and Werner Heel, the other “Azzurri” Henri Battilani, Guglielmo Bosca, Emanuele Buzzi, Mattia Casse, Davide Cazzaniga, Matteo De Vettori and Matteo Marsaglia convened. Italy is allowed to send a maximum of eight athletes to the start in the downhill and seven athletes in the Super-G.

So far, the “Azzurri” have celebrated five downhill victories on the Saslong: four with Kristian Ghedina in 1996, 1998,1999, 2001 and 1977 and before that in 2014 thanks to Herbert Plank. There were also nine podium finishes, the last of which came in 2008 by Dominik Paris. In Super-G, on the other hand, there have been four podium places so far, with Werner Heel's victory in 2014 as the highlight and Dominik Paris' second place in XNUMX as the most recent success.

Five South Tyroleans in Val Badia

On Sunday 17th and Monday 18th December, the ski circus moves to Val Badia, where the classic giant slalom (9.30:12.30 a.m./18.30:XNUMX p.m.) and the night parallel giant slalom (XNUMX:XNUMX p.m.) take place on the Gran Risa.

In addition to the five “Azzurri” Florian Eisath, Manfred Mölgg, Simon Maurberger, Riccardo Tonetti and Alex Zingerle, Giovanni Borsotti, Luca De Aliprandini and Roberto Nani are also in the race for the “Azzurri”. The surprise man of the European Cup races at the weekend in Trysil, Alex Hofer from Castelrotto, was not taken into account, at least for the time being.

In total, Italy has been able to celebrate nine victories in Alta Badia so far, although without South Tyrol's contribution, thanks to Richard Pramotton (1986), Alberto Tomba (1987, 1990, 1991, 1994), Davide Simoncelli (2003) and Max Blardone (2005, 2009). 2011). On the other hand, there have been 23 podium places for the “Azzurri” so far, the last of which was last year thanks to third place by Florian Eisath.
