It couldn't be more exciting

MEN Overall World Cup (-): Alexis Pinturault certainly didn't want it to be that exciting: the Frenchman, who has been seriously and unsuccessfully chasing the overall World Cup since 2013, is only 31 points ahead of the Swiss Marco Odermatt before the final races. In the end, Pinturault showed nerves, whereas Odermatt collected a lot of points with the “nothing to lose” motto. Behind them, it's a close battle for third place between the Swiss Loic Meillard (SUI) and the Austrians Marco Schwarz, Matthias Mayer and Vincent Kriechmayr.

Departure (-): The duel for the ball on Wednesday is Beat Feuz against Matthias Mayer. The Austrian is 68 points behind the Swiss, who could win the small crystal ball for the downhill classification for the fourth time. He would draw level with his compatriot Didier Cuche. The record holder with 4 balls is Franz Klemm, who won 5 in a row from 1975 to 1978 and one in 4. For Austria it would be the first downhill crystal since Klaus Kröll in 1983.

Super-G (-): World champion Vincent Kriechmayr goes into the last Super-G of the season on Thursday with an 83 point lead over Marco Odermatt. Even if the Swiss win, the Upper Austrian would only have to finish 14th. In any case, Austria's men's team has been waiting for a Super-G ball since 2008 and Hannes Reichelt.

Giant slalom (-): In the penultimate race of the season, Marco Odermatt snatched the lead away from Alexis Pinturault, who was still waiting for his first giant slalom crystal ball, and is now 1 points ahead. This means that even if Pinturault wins - he has always been in the top 25 at the end of the season since 2013 - Odermatt is unlikely to finish better than 3rd.

Slalom (+): After Marcel Hirscher in 2019, the slalom shot winner Marco Schwarz comes back from Austria. The Carinthian is an unassailable 122 points ahead of the Swiss Ramon Zenhäuser and can collect his first crystal in Lenzerheide and put it in the trophy cabinet at home. The Italian is 2018 points ahead of defending champion Corinne Suter from Switzerland and 70 points ahead of her compatriot Lara Gut-Behrami. She recently won both downhill runs in the Fassa Valley. An 97th place would be enough for Goggia to win the ball. How fit she will be after her injury remains to be seen.

Super-G (+): Lara Gut-Behrami is the discipline winner. For the Swiss it is the 3rd Super-G ball after 2013/14 and 2015/16.

Giant slalom (+): Marta Bassino can be happy about the small crystal ball for the giant slalom ranking. With a lead of 148 points over the Frenchwoman Tessa Worley, the Italian can no longer be caught.

Slalom (-): Showdown in Lenzerheide: Petra Vlhova goes into the final race with a 22-point lead over Katharina Liensberger and 37 points over the American Mikaela Shiffrin.

When the World Cup final takes place in Lenzerheide from Wednesday, 16 Azzurri will be there - including 5 South Tyroleans ( SportNews berichtete ).

Before the final World Cup week in Alpine skiing in Lenzerheide (Switzerland), 7 of the 10 ratings are still open. The main focus is on the fight for the overall World Cup. This could hardly be more exciting for both women and men.
