Quietly and secretly: Austria's ski champion has dared

Austria's ski star Matthias Mayer has gotten married. The double Olympic champion from Carinthia said “yes” to Claudia shortly before his 30th birthday on Tuesday. The wedding wasn't widely announced. Mayer documented the marriage on Monday with a photo posting on Instagram that shows the wedding couple in traditional costumes.

The congratulations didn't take long to arrive: Peter Fill, Manuela Mölgg, Felix Neureuther and Kjetil Jansrud are just a few stars of the scene who congratulated “Mothl” on his wedding.

Mayer won his Olympic gold medals in downhill in 2014 and in super-G in 2018. In the canceled Corona season, the speed star was able to make a big impression with a total of 4 wins and 4 more podium places. Especially with his triumph in the Kitzbühel downhill run, he caused great celebration among the Austrian ski fans.
