Stuhec conquers Cortina

The Slovenian showed a strong performance right from the start on the second downhill run in Cortina on a shortened route, handled the slope very well and finally celebrated the deserved victory this Saturday after her second place yesterday. It was her first victory since Val Gardena 2: Back then she was successful in both the Super-G and the day before in the downhill. Second place went to Kajsa Vikchoff Lie, who took her second podium place overall and her first in a downhill: in Garmisch in 2 she also came second in the Super-G. The Azzurra Elena Curtoni was running very well for a long time, but had a bit of difficulty in the last part of the route and finished the race in 2rd place. Favorite and Saturday winner Sofia Goggia (click here for yesterday's race report) was eliminated this time. The series winner of the season once again put everything on one card, but fell in the process: Fortunately, this ended lightly and the Azzurra was immediately back on her feet. Little to gain for South Tyroleans There was little to gain for the South Tyroleans. The 27-year-old Nicol Delago from Val Gardena ended up in 1,22st place, 21 seconds behind the victorious Stuhec, while her 25-year-old sister Nadia did not get past 24th place. Karoline Pichler from Petersberg missed the points in 34th place, Teresa Runggaldier from Val Gardena ended up in 49st place out of 41 starters and is also still waiting for her first World Cup placement in the top 30. Due to the strong wind, the start of the descent was moved downwards, shortening the route by around 600 meters.
