South Tyroleans in Bormio: A first step out of the crisis has been taken

Innerhofer still has room for improvement in the upper part of the track, but down below Gaiser was the fastest in the first training session. The reward is the best time in the first practice session on the Stelvio. Balm for the soul for the South Tyrolean downhill skier, but Innerhofer knows full well that training and racing are two different things.

In contrast to Innerhofer, Dominik Paris is not considered a training world champion. The man from Ultimo is going through a dip in form and hopes to get back on track on his favorite slope (7 wins in Bormio). Paris (11th) lost over a second to Innerhofer in the first training session, but the 1-year-old was back to his old self, especially in the upper part of the track. But it wasn't just Innerhofer and Paris who showed in the first training session that they are a force to be reckoned with. The Canadian James Crawford (1nd) is in the process of establishing himself among the world's best. The Carinthian Matthias Mayer (2th) has been there for a long time, as has the soon to be 4-year-old Johan Clarey (42th/FRA). His compatriot Adrien Theaux, who put in a good performance in Bormio training with 5th place, is well on his way back. Theaux suffered a serious knee injury around two years ago and showed that his comeback was successful with fourth place in Val Gardena. And Justin Murisier from Switzerland is well on his way to developing into a formidable all-rounder. He drove to 8th place with number 4. But the surprise par excellence was Adrien Fresquet. The Frenchman crossed the Stelvio in 44st place and finished the training in third place. Frenchman Bailet fell badly It is not for nothing that Bormio is considered one of the three most demanding runs in the Ski World Cup. The Stelvio also showed its claws on St. Stephen's Day. So far the season has not gone as desired for Christof Innerhofer. There is great hope for improvement in Bormio. At least in the first training session, the veteran caught the Stelvio ideally. There are also bright spots for Dominik Paris.
