Next medal: Pichler keeps up with the two world stars

The Petersberg native was only beaten by Italy's world stars Marta Bassino and Federica Brignone in the giant slalom and took bronze. Bassino, who won the Crystal Globe in the World Cup in this discipline, was behind Brignone in the first round, but turned the tables in the decision and won her fourth Italian championship title. In the end, Pichler was 0,90 seconds behind the winner. For the South Tyrolean, the bronze medal is a special sense of achievement. The 26-year-old has repeatedly struggled with injuries in recent years and has also fallen into a hole in terms of performance, which is why she was kicked out of the national team last summer. That's why Pichler fought his way through on his own this year and made it to the podium twice in the European Cup and made it into the top 10 four more times. With the bronze medal in Livigno, the Petersberg native has now made another statement. For Pichler it was the second precious metal at the Italian Championships: in 2019 she also won bronze in the giant slalom.
