South Tyrolean becomes new head coach

FISI President Flavio Roda, who has just been confirmed in office, is restructuring the entire coaching staff in the Italian ski team, as the Gazzetta dello Sport writes. The first surprise: He threw Giovanni Feltrin and Marco Viale out the door. Both were part of the coaching staff for the speed specialists, so both played a significant role in the Azzurre's historic triple victory in the downhill in Bad Kleinkirchheim, the historic downhill gold at the Olympics and Sofia Goggia's downhill ball. After all, Matteo Guadagnini remains the women's head coach, Paolo Deflorian (most recently with Canada) will be the new speed boss.

The FISI president also wants to reduce the size of the training groups: Sofia Goggia and Federica Brignone will train as a “mini team” in the future under the supervision of Gianluca Rulfi (previously head coach of the all-rounders), while Marta Bassino is leaving the all-rounders and returning to the giant slalom specialists becomes.

New men's boss The men's coaching carousel is turning massively: Alexander Prosch from Meransen is taking over the position of head coach. The 42-year-old was previously the head coach of the European Cup team. The previous head coach, Max Carca, takes over the C team. Roberto Lorenzi will be the new boss of the European Cup drivers; he was previously part of the coaching staff for the “all-rounders”.

The speed men continue to train with Alberto Ghidoni, Raimund Plancker, Christian Corradino and Walter Ronconi (most recently with Canada). Alessandro Serra is making a comeback as a technical coach, Stefano Costazza remains the slalom coach.

All of these personnel changes are not yet official; they are to be officially decided by the FISI board in June.
