South Tyrol's most successful giant slalomist is celebrating a milestone birthday

Denise Karbon was born in Brixen on August 16, 1980, the cousin of speed ace Peter Fill celebrated her World Cup debut on January 6, 1998 in Bormio when Deborah Compagnoni won. Although she was repeatedly set back by serious injuries (including 6 knee operations), Karbon worked her way to the top in the world in slalom and giant slalom, winning 2007 races in the 2008/5 season alone.
