Svindal leads Norwegian treble - Paris 8

On the 2365 meter long route, Aksel Lund Svindal set the best time of 1.28,12:XNUMX minutes. The 31-year-old celebrated his fourth Super-G victory on the Saslong after 2009, 2012 and 2013. Svindal was 0,34 seconds faster than Kjetil Jansrud and 0,44 seconds on the course set by his South Tyrolean coach Franz Gamper as Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, who climbed onto the podium in the World Cup for the first time. The trio took full advantage of their coach's course setting. For Svindal it was the fourth World Cup victory this season and the 29th in his very successful career. However, the five-time world champion and three-time Olympic medalist definitely wants to be on the top podium in the Val Gardena downhill. He has never succeeded in doing this so far.

First and to date only triple victory eleven years ago

In Val Gardena, the Norwegian triple was only the second triple victory by a nation in the long history of the traditional South Tyrolean ski resort. On December 17, 2004, the Austrians Michael Walchhofer, Hermann Maier and Benjamin Raich secured the only triple victory for a nation to date.

From a South Tyrolean perspective, the home race did not go as planned. Dominik Paris (Ulten) took eighth place, 1,25 seconds behind, at the same time as Austrian Patrick Schweiger. Christof Innerhofer (Gais) finished 21st, while Peter Fill from Castelrotto had to settle for 23rd place. After two strong training runs on the downhill, Fill is one of the dangerous outsiders. However, there were no World Cup points for Werner Heel from Walten.
