Team victory for Switzerland – “Azzurri” fail early

Olympic champion Switzerland won the team competition on Friday as part of the Alpine Ski World Cup finals in Soldeu in Andorra. The favored Swiss prevailed in the final against the surprise finalists Norway after a 2-2 draw over the time rule. Switzerland was even 0-2 behind. Thea Louise Stjernesund gave Norway the lead against Aline Danioth. Leif Kristian Nestvold-Haugen increased the score to 2-0.

However, Wendy Holdener withstood the pressure and won by half a second against Mina Fürst Hotmann. In the exciting final duel, Daniel Yule prevailed against Sebastian-Foss Solevag. The two were level for a long time, but then the Norwegian had a hard time and lost a stick. With an outstanding final sprint, Yule set the fastest time of the day. Solevag was disqualified.

In the duel for third place, Germany won against Canada 3-2. Canada surprisingly eliminated Austria in the quarterfinals. Italy have no chance in the quarter-finals There was nothing to gain for the “Azzurri”. The end came in the quarter-finals against Germany. Marta Bassino also had a bit of bad luck in the first duel. For a long time she was tied with the German Christina Geiger, but then slipped away and was eliminated. Manfred Mölgg from Enneberg also couldn't score. The veteran was narrowly defeated by the youngster Fabian Himmelsbach. In the end, Mölgg was 0,10 seconds short. Lena Dürr then made everything clear against Irene Curtoni in a confident manner. Alex Vinatzer ultimately lost the meaningless fourth race to Anton Tremmel. The young man from Val Gardena was 0,13 seconds slower.
