Tessa Worley wins gold in giant slalom - Mölgg best "Azzurra"

Tessa Worley, who was already clearly in the lead after the first run, clearly won ahead of Tina Maze (+1,12 seconds) and Anna Fenninger (+1,18) with another gala performance.

Worley won her third medal at the World Championships. In 2011 in Garmisch she won bronze in the giant slalom and gold in the team competition. After gold in the Super-G and silver in the Super Combined, Maze secured the third precious metal in these title fights.

The giant slalom was disappointing for the Italian national team. Manuela Mölgg did best, but despite a strong second run she didn't make it into the top ten. He finished the race in eleventh place, 3,33 seconds behind. "I wasn't satisfied at all after the first run. I used the break to analyze the journey in detail with my trainers, which helped me immensely. I was able to improve significantly in the second run. This clearly shows my self-confidence in view of the lack of races this season increase," explains Manuela Mölgg, who wants to attack again in the slalom: "A podium finish is a long way away at the moment. But I won't give up under any circumstances and will try to get the most out of myself again."

Irene Curtoni took 14th place. The second South Tyrolean, Denise Karbon, did not start in the second round. After consultation with the team doctors, the Castelrotto native decided to slow down due to her knee pain.
