Triumph on the Stelvio! Paris for the sixth

2012, 2017, 2018, 2019 (2), 2021: These are the years in which Dominik Paris triumphed in the Stelvio downhill in Bormio. There is also a victory in the Super-G (2018). One can confidently say that the Ultner has found a second living room in the upper Valtellina. On Tuesday, Paris was also in a class of its own, only the Swiss Marco Odermatt was able to keep up. No downhill skier has ever won six times on the same course – until now. Odermatt conjured up a strong time in the snow, taking a whopping 88 hundredths off the strong and previously leading Norwegian Aleksander Aamodt Kilde. But Paris went one step further and showed that he is not called the “King of Bormio” for nothing. The South Tyrolean, who also took the lead in the Downhill World Cup from Matthias Mayer with his victory, was 24 hundredths faster at the finish than Odermatt. A second Swiss rider, Niels Hintermann (he was already third in Val Gardena), took third place (+3 seconds). Not only Kilde (6th/+1,12) was defeated, but also the top Austrian downhill skiers Vincent Kriechmayr (7th/+1,15) and Mayer (12th/+1,57). The best of the ÖSV athletes was Daniel Hemetsberger in 4th place (+0,99). With Matteo Marsaglia, a second Azzurro ended up in the top 10. Christof Innerhof (Gais) didn't score any World Cup points.
