SURVEY | Should the back airbag be mandatory?

Marc Gisin's serious fall on the Saslong has reignited airbag discussions in alpine skiing. Should the back protector be mandatory for all speed specialists?

I think you can compare the discussion very well with the safety regulations of Formula 1. In the 60s, drivers had to be forced to wear seat belts and later the Hans Device to protect their necks. Back then, too, the drivers explained that they had too little freedom of movement and were therefore at a disadvantage compared to drivers who drove without one. But if everyone is obliged to do so, it no longer makes any difference and makes the races much safer.
