Unbelievable: A German triumphs on the Streif

The German ended Beat Feuz's classic double dream, who triumphed in Wengen last week.

First German Hahnenkamm winner in 38 years

While Hannes Reichelt, who was ahead for a long time with start number one, was the best on the flats, Feuz was in a class of his own, especially in the lower part of the route. Dreßen, on the other hand, was strong from top to bottom. His teammate Andreas Sander almost made it onto the podium too, but he didn't catch the traverse perfectly. Dreßen made perfect use of the good conditions (the sun came out briefly) and caused a big surprise. The last German to win on the Streif was Sepp Ferstl, who won the Hahnekamm downhill in 1978 and 1979.

Reichelt, on the other hand, missed a possible victory not only at the top, but also at the edge of the Hausberg. Aksel Lund Svindal's race was also over there. The Norwegian, who had a brutal fall there two years ago, lost a lot of time in the last few seconds of driving. Nevertheless, in the end it was enough for 7th place - at least that's how it looks after 25 runners.

Paris badly disappointed - Innerhofer falls

It wasn't enough for the South Tyroleans to get a podium finish. The best was Peter Fill, who finished ninth, a good second behind. Last year's winner Dominik Paris came twelfth and is not at all satisfied with that. This meant that the Ultner was only third-best Azzurro, as Emanuele Buzzi finished eleventh with number 44.

The best South Tyrolean might have been Christof Innerhofer, but he supported us. The Gaiser showed a great ride and was on the verge of becoming a threat to Reichelt, who was leading at the time. Then came the local mountain, a driving error by Innerhofer and a small blow.

Werner Heel, who started the race with the high starting number 48, is still unable to move. He didn't score any World Cup points in Kitzbühel.
