Vera Tschurtschenthaler races onto the European Cup podium

The season has been exciting so far for Vera Tschurtschenthaler. 10 days ago she was allowed to compete in the two World Cup slaloms in Levi, but without qualifying for the second round. Now she is causing a sensation one class lower, i.e. in the European Cup: In the first slalom of the season, Tschurtschenthaler promptly raced onto the podium and came third in Hippach (Zillertal), Austria. Tschurtschenthaler celebrated her second European Cup podium finish of her career. Last January she also came second in the slalom in Meiringen-Hasliberg (Switzerland). On Tuesday she would have even achieved her first victory in the second highest racing series in the world. Tschurtschenthaler led at halftime After the first run, Tschurtschenthaler led the field, eleven hundredths of a second ahead of Sweden's Moa Boström Müssener. In the final, however, the Scandinavian set the fastest time and celebrated her first European Cup victory, while Tschurtschenthaler fell back to third place. However, that won't dampen their joy. Lucrezia Lorenzi, another Azzurra, came second, while an Italian, Beatrice Sola, also came in fourth. Celina Haller also delivered a strong performance. The skier from Schenna ended up in 11th place and just missed her best result, eighth place.
