Verena Stuffer 21th in the first training run in Lake Louise

The Spanish Carolina Ruiz Castillo achieved the fastest time in the first training run of the World Cup downhill on Wednesday in Lake Louise with 1:57,40 minutes, relegating the German Maria Höfl-Riesch to second place by eleven hundredths of a second. Defending World Cup champion Tina Maze came third (+0,66 seconds).
