Weirather wins in Crans-Montana – huge surprise for Holdener

Weirather had two reasons to be happy at the end of the race: the Liechtensteiner not only won the day, but also took the lead in the discipline rankings. Because Lara Gut only came seventh, Weirather is 46 points ahead of the last race at the World Cup final in Are.

Second place went to the Austrian Anna Veith, who was beaten by 36 hundredths of a second. The sensation in Switzerland, however, was a local hero: Wendy Holdener, actually a slalom specialist, raced to third place with start number 31. This was her first podium finish in a speed race. One man's joy, another man's sorrow: Federica Brignone was pushed from third to fourth place after Holdener's surprise trip.

Hanna Schnarf took tenth place - it was her fifth Super G top 10 place of the current season. In the end, even more could have been possible: In the first three intermediate times, the Olanger woman was on course for a podium, but lost a lot of time in the final part and ended up in ninth place. Sofia Goggia only finished 15th, while Nicol Delago was able to score World Cup points with a 22nd place. Anna Hofer had to settle for 35th place. Verena Stuffer competed in her last race on Saturday and let himself be celebrated. She finished almost a minute behind.
