Wengen: The old masters are getting into position

Wengen is typically the longest run in the Alpine ski circuit, lasting over two minutes. However, the upper part of the route was left out of today's training run because the fresh snow had to be removed there first. The start was above the dog's scoop edge. Local hero Stefan Rogentin was fastest with a time of 1.46.40:XNUMX:XNUMX minutes.

But the old masters positioned themselves behind it. Even at the age of 42, Johan Clarey is still one of the world's best and underlined this with the second-best training time. Behind top favorite Aleksander Aamodt Kilde (3rd), two other veterans, Beat Feuz (4th) and Dominik Paris (6th), attracted attention.

Feuz and Paris strong The three-time Wengen winner Feuz will say goodbye to his home crowd at the weekend. The Swiss will end his career after the Kitzbühel races next week at the latest. Paris, on the other hand, wants to record its first top result of the season in Wengen. This was a 10th place in Bormio to date.

Dominik Paris was on the Wengen podium last year.

Christof Innerhofer (12th) also did well in the first training session. The experienced South Tyrolean came in ahead of co-favorite Marco Odermatt. Florian Schieder from Castelrotto, however, ended up outside the top 30.

There are two more training runs on the program in Wengen on Wednesday and Thursday, although one will probably be canceled. The Super-G will take place on Friday (12.30 p.m.), while the classic downhill run on the Lauberhorn will take place on Saturday (12.30 p.m.). The Wengen week ends on Sunday (10.15/13.15) with a slalom.
