Wild ride in Beaver Creek: Feuz wins the downhill rodeo

Last year, the “ball lightning” couldn’t be avoided on the descent on the Birds Of Prey – which is reminiscent of a rodeo ride due to the numerous waves and bumps – and now the 32-year-old has struck again. Technically strong and with an excellent line, last season's best downhill skier tamed the course, which was shortened due to wind, and prevailed with a respectable lead of 41 hundredths of a second over Vincent Kriechmayr and Johan Clarey. The Austrian and the Frenchman ended up in second place at the same time, with Clarey in particular surprising: With the high starting number 2, he crashed the ÖSV party and pushed Hannes Reichelt off the podium.

With his 12th World Cup victory, Feuz once again showed that the track in Beaver Creek is one of his favorite slopes. With Dominik Paris, on the other hand, it became clear once again that Birds Of Prey doesn't suit him too much. In the Super-G on Friday, the Ultner didn't really get up to speed (13th place) and he also had problems in the downhill on Saturday. The 30-year-old made a few mistakes that cost a lot of time. Ultimately he ended up in 11th place.

Peter Fill was not at all satisfied, as he did well in the upper part, but then continually lost time and ultimately crossed the finish line more than 2 seconds behind. In the final ranking, Castelrotto appears in 50th place.

Beat Feuz has done it again. Thanks to a dream run, the Swiss was able to win the downhill rodeo in Beaver Creek and successfully defend his title.
