Two Italian downhill champions: Heel and Filll win at the same time - UPDATE

Gold for Werner Heel and Peter Fill: The men also competed in the downhill competition at the Italian Championships in Santa Caterina Valfurva on Tuesday. The timekeeping at the finish showed exactly the same time for the two South Tyroleans, which is why two winners ended up on top of the podium. With a time of 1:22,38 minutes, they came ahead of Matteo Marsaglia. Dominik Paris and Siegmar Klotz, however, missed out on a place on the podium in fourth and fifth place by just one and two hundredths respectively.

For Fill and Heel it was the first Italian championship title in this discipline. Heel was at the top of the Italian championships for the second time in his career after his victory in the Super-G ten years ago. Meanwhile, Fill celebrated his eighth gold medal in national championships.

Fill also on the podium in the super combination - strong comeback from Tonetti

Marsaglia, however, took victory in the super combination. Bolzano's Riccardo Tonetti raced up 15 places in the combination slalom in the afternoon and became Italian vice-champion, while Peter Fill took bronze and was able to celebrate his second medal of the day.
