Two Austrians lead in Zagreb – Mölgg has room for improvement

Austria times two! Thanks to a magical run, Michael Matt is in the lead in Zagreb, followed by his compatriot Marcel Hirscher, who had to admit defeat by 0,21 seconds. How strong Matt's performance was with the number 2 is shown by the gap between the remaining starters: Henrik Kristoffersen crossed the finish line six tenths late and, alongside Hirscher, is the only athlete who lost less than a second.

Manuel Feller is fourth, 1,07 seconds behind. Manfred Mölgg, who started the race with number 3, crossed the finish line without any major mistakes, but in the end he was 1,83 seconds behind, meaning he was in 12th place at the halfway point. Patrick Thaler's performance went completely wrong: the man from Sarner made a serious mistake in the first few meters and the 39-year-old continued to struggle afterwards, which is why the gap in the end was almost four seconds. Thaler missed the second round, as did Fabian Bacher and Alex Vinatzer, who was eliminated. Best “Azzurro” is Stefano Gross in fifth.
