Nordic skiing remains in the Fiemme Valley

The Nordic combined athletes are visiting the location, which is not far from the South Tyrolean border, for the fifth time in a row and for the 16th time in total. The combined athletes will compete in three competitions in Predazzo (jumping) and Lago di Tesero (cross-country skiing). They start qualifying for the individual competition on Friday on Thursday evening. A team sprint is on the program on Saturday, before another individual competition takes place on Sunday at the end of the fifth World Cup station.

Costa and Pittin with chances in the team sprint The Wolkensteiner Samuel Costa will be back in Fiemme Valley after he last took a break in Otepää. The strongest “Azzurro” is currently Alessandro Pittin, who is in 15th place in the overall World Cup. In the team sprint on Saturday, he and Costa could form a very competitive duo after they finished third in this discipline in Fiemme Valley in 2017. Lukas Runggaldier from St. Christina was also able to impress on his return to the World Cup last weekend. The 31-year-old finished in the points twice in Otepää and wants to confirm this at his home World Cup.

After recent convincing performances in the Continental Cup, 19-year-old Aaron Kostner should also make his first World Cup appearance this winter in Fiemme Valley. The other “Azzurri” who were nominated for these World Cup races are Raffaele Buzzi, Luca Gianmoena, Denis Parolari and Manuel Maierhofer from Val Gardena. The only South Tyrolean in Predazzo Alex Insam will be the only South Tyrolean participant among the ski jumpers. The 21-year-old from Wolkenstein's goal is to achieve World Cup points on the hill where he often trains. In addition to Insam, the following “Azzurri” are in the squad for Predazzo: Sebastian Colloredo, Giovanni Bresadola, Davide Bresadola and Federico Cecon.

This is the twelfth time that the ski jumpers have been visiting the Fiemme Valley. However, the last World Cup competition in Predazzo took place seven years ago (2012). Nordic skiing remains in the Fiemme Valley

After the cross-country skiers attended the final of the Tour de Ski in Fiemme Valley at the weekend, the combined skiers and ski jumpers are coming this week.
