San Candido is working on its World Cup route

The international ski association gave the organizers of the traditional event on Haunold the green light. This means that nothing stands in the way of the qualification on Friday, 20th, and the thrilling competitions on Saturday, 21st and Sunday, 22nd December in the 3 Zinnen Dolomite region.

Val Thorens was the venue for the first World Cup races of the 2019/20 season this weekend. In the French town, the Canadians Kevin Drury and Kristofor Mahler triumphed, while the Swedes Sandra Naeslund and Fanny Smith were ahead in the women's competition. The South Tyrolean Siegmar Klotz also made his comeback in Val Thorens. The 32-year-old was the only “Azzurro” who was able to qualify for the round of XNUMX.

As soon as the races in France were history, the FIS carried out the snow control in San Candido less than 24 hours later. On Sunday morning, FIS representative Andreas Krautgasser gave the thumbs up. Nothing now stands in the way of the eleventh edition of the Ski Cross World Cup in the South Tyrolean stronghold of this Olympic sport. On the one hand, this is due to the heavy snowfall in November, and on the other hand, it is due to the low temperatures of the past few days and thus the possibility of producing sufficient technical snow or preserving the existing snow.

The Haunold piste is getting its finishing touches As soon as the FIS gave the OK, construction began in Innichen on the selective and technically most demanding race track in the entire World Cup circuit. The organizing committee relies on the technical know-how of the Sterzing company Prinoth with its Bison snow groomer. At the same time, Prinoth is one of the main sponsors of the renowned Innichner winter sports event.

The AUDI FIS Ski Cross World Cup continues on Saturday, December 14th in Montafon (Austria). The entourage then travels via Arosa, Switzerland (December 17th) to Innichen, where the qualification is scheduled for Friday, December 20th and a total of four World Cup races on Saturday, December 21st and Sunday, December 22nd.
