Siegmar Klotz announces: “I want to clean the boys”

Siegmar Klotz, how are you feeling after the bad fall in San Candido almost a year ago?

Klotz: "I am doing very well. I no longer have any problems at all, the injury is no longer noticeable at all. The rehab and advanced training went completely according to plan.”

You missed a lot of last season. Can you assess what athletic condition you are in?

“I can't say exactly yet because we haven't been able to make many comparisons with other nations in the last few weeks. However, when we last trained in Pitztal, I realized that I was on the right track. I will use the start of the World Cup in Val Thorens to get closer to the best again.”

What has everyday life been like in the last few months?

“I tried to ski as much as possible and trained a lot on snow in the spring. Plus the usual dry training, where my focus was on liveliness. I put together some equipment myself at home, mainly to fine-tune the start. The technique is important, I worked on that with rollerblades.”

The ski cross team has grown, including former alpine specialists. What are the advantages and disadvantages?

“The advantage of an Alpine skier is that he has learned how to let the skis go and approach the gates correctly. But that's it, because the technical elements, jumps and the start in ski cross are completely new territory. It takes a lot of time to internalize it all.”

How are the boys doing in training?

“I think it's great that we have new, young ski crossers on the team. It's just that the boys always give it their all and so we can all benefit from each other. If we stop the time in training, we can push each other. Once the boys are faster, they always have a blast and I'm inspired. Because it's clear that I still want to clean the boys (laughs) . "

What are Siegmar Klotz's goals for the upcoming World Cup season?

“It’s difficult to say because I have to see where I stand first. Of course it would be nice if I could pick up where I was before the injury. A big goal is a podium finish, that would be great.”
