Alex Insam fails to qualify for Bergisel

Although Alex Insam hasn't been able to collect any points in the two competitions so far, he took part in both Oberstdorf and the New Year's competition in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Now the tour is coming to Austria and Alex Insam has to watch. He couldn't qualify.

Insam is 1,5 points short of 50th place

Little things make a difference in ski jumping and that was the case on Wednesday afternoon during the qualification for the main competition in Innsbruck. Wind and rain made it difficult for the jumpers on the Bergisel, but in the end they were able to qualify despite the interruptions. The 20-year-old Alex Insam from Val Gardena did not end up in the top 50. Insam missed this by just 54 points in 1,5th place. The second Azzurro in the field of participants, Sebastian Colloredo, qualified for the Bergisel jumping in 32nd place. In the first round he will face the Norwegian Anders Fannemel - one of the favorites to win the day in Innsbruck.

Kobayashi wins the qualification

The Japanese Junshiro Kobayashi won the Bergisel qualification. The 26-year-old will face the Swiss Gregor Deschwanden, the 50th in the qualification. The qualifying runner-up and tour leader Kamil Stoch has to face the Austrian Markus Schiffner. His challenger Richard Freitag came third and has to jump against the Swiss Killian Peier.

The legendary Bergisel jumping in Innsbruck starts on Thursday at 14 p.m. and is the third of four jumping events in the Four Hills Tournament.
