Germany has found Schuster's successor

The Austrian Stefan Horngacher will succeed Werner Schuster, who voluntarily resigned from his position at the end of the season after eleven years.

The DSV did not provide any information about the length of the contract, but it is assumed that the commitment will be long-term until the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing. Horngacher worked as Schuster's assistant from 2011 to 2016 before moving to the Poles as head coach.

Horngacher won two World Cup victories in his active career and won World Cup gold with the team in 1991 and 2001. As Poland's coach, he led Kamil Stoch to overall Olympic and World Cup victory. With the Polish team he won World Cup gold for the first time in history in 2017, and the Poles won bronze at the 2018 Olympics.

About his first task in Germany, he said: “Now it is important to put together a powerful team of trainers in order to then set the focus of the team for the upcoming preparation.”
