ÖSV eagles win wind lottery in Poland

Manuel Fettner, Jan Hörl, Daniel Huber and Stefan Kraft achieved 843 points, closely followed by Germany (842,7) and Slovenia (834,4). In the close competition, which was heavily influenced by the wind, the ÖSV team was 3,4 points ahead of Poland, 23,3 points ahead of Slovenia and 31 points ahead of Germany at halftime. Changing conditions made it exciting right up to the last jump. The ÖSV team started well, opener Manuel Fettner took second place with 121 m, Jan Hörl put the team in the lead with 134,5. After 116 m from Daniel Huber, head coach Andreas Widhölzl's team was third. Final jumper Stefan Kraft didn't let the wind unsettle him, landed at 122 m and secured the red-white-red half-time lead. The final round also continued with constantly changing leadership, in which, according to the new mode, the starting order was adjusted after each group according to the current status. After Fettner's 115 m, Austria was in third place. 121,5 from Hörl put Austria back in front. After Huber's 113 m, victory seemed out of reach, 24,4 points behind Slovenia. But Kraft put 126 m into the snow and kept the German Karl Geiger (125) and the Slovenian Anze Lanisek (111,5) at bay. Italy's national ski jumping team did not take part in the team competition in Wisla.
