The Eisacktal Cup is entering its fifth round

The idea arose from enthusiasm for this emerging and fascinating sport in the five different areas of the Isarco Valley where the competitions are held: Vals/Jochtal, Ladurns/Pflersch, Gitschberg/Meransen, Plose/Brixen and Latzfons.

As in previous years, the fifth edition is also characterized by something new. In addition to the existing awards, the super finishers of the Eisacktal Cup will also be honored this year for the first time. Five valuable prizes will be raffled off among all athletes who take part in all races.

Both in each individual race and in the overall ranking, the Eisacktal Cup continues to reward not only the winners, but all athletes for their efforts. The Skins company provides a valuable functional shirt for all athletes who take part in four of the five races. For each individual race, participants also receive their own starting package from the respective organizer.

The Eisacktal Cup is aimed at everyone, racing and amateur athletes, but also popular athletes. In addition to the normal competition, in which the athletes fight for the fastest time, each race has its own “hobby” category, in which the winner is not the participant with the fastest time, but the one with the calculated mean time of all participants in this category next comes. “The idea of fun and enjoyment should be the focus here. It should be a cozy evening of doing sports together and then having a social gathering,” says Stefanie De Simone from the Eisacktal Cup organizing committee.

The participants can expect 5.100 meters of altitude over a 35-kilometer route, which will be overcome in this unique racing series both at night on the ski slopes and during the day in alpine terrain. The start of the 5th Eisacktal Cup will take place at the “Skiuphill” night climb race in Vals/Jochtal on Friday, December 30th; On Friday, January 13th the “Skialp Night Trophy” continues in Pflersch/Ladurns, on Friday, January 20th the night promotion race “Gitschberg Night Attack” follows in Meransen, and on Friday, January 27th the night promotion race “Plose Ski uphill” in Brixen. The finale at the “Lorenzensturm” in Latzfons will take place during the day and in the open area, on Saturday, February 04th. After the race, the Eisacktal Cup awards will take place as part of the “Eisacktal Cup After Race Party”.

Almost 400 athletes took part in the last edition of the Eisacktal Cup. The overall winners were Barbara Oberhauser (ASC Rasen) in the women's category, Martin Stofner (Alpin Speed Sarntal) in the men's senior category and Karl Heiss in the men's master category. As in the past three editions, ASV Gossensass Skialp clearly won the team ranking last year.
