Feuerstein Skiraid: National champions and winners of an Italian Cup stage will be determined this weekend in Pflersch

The organizers of the ASV Gossensass, Skialp section, have already taken precautions and will hold the race on an alternative route to ensure the safety of everyone involved.

This year the Feuerstein Skiraid counts as both a national championship and an Italian Cup race. This shows that the previous editions, despite all the weather-related difficulties that have demanded everything from the organizers over the past two years, have always been a complete success and that is why the Skialp section of ASV Gossensass was trusted to host a stage in addition to the national championship of the Italian Cup. The Feuerstein Skiraid is also being used by some athletes as preparation for the World Championships, which will take place in Villars, Switzerland from March 10th to 18th.

The alternative route is in no way inferior to the original route This year too, the organizers have done everything they can to organize an excellent ski touring competition, for which a spectacular route is a basic requirement. “Our alternative route, which no longer leads into the high mountains, but mainly runs through the forest area, is in no way inferior to the original route: steep climbs, sharp descents and passages where technical skills are required,” explains the OC manager Stefanie De Simone. Already 130 registrations As of yesterday, 130 athletes had already confirmed their participation on Sunday. In the women's category, last year's winner Corinna Ghirardi from Malonno in the province of Brescia, Elena Nicolini (Molveno) and Martina Valmassoi from Pieve di Cadore lead the field. In the men's category, last year's runner-up William Boffelli and the former Italian national team athlete Pietro Lanfranchi, both from the province of Bergamo, as well as the South Tyroleans Martin Stofner from Sarntal and Philipp Götsch from Dorf Tirol are among the hottest items. Other South Tyroleans with ambitions are Roberto De Simone, who competes for the host club, and David Thöni, who won the first edition. However, last year's winner Manfred Reichegger from Mühlwald, who ended his career and has been working as a trainer since then, is no longer there. The entry fee in the Master/Senior/Espoir categories is 40 euros, while in the Junior and Cadet categories it is 20 euros. The entry fee includes a starting package, lunch and food at the finish.

Around 150 winter sports enthusiasts are expected on race day in the starting area, which is now located at the valley station of the Ladurns ski area. Most of the route is also very easy to see for spectators - so the third edition of the ski touring competition in Pflersch should also be a great spectacle.
