Feuerstein Skiraid: Oberbacher and Dorfmann are the national champions

The race, organized by the ASV Gossensass Skialp section, counted as a FISI race and was also held as a South Tyrolean state championship. Alex Oberbacher from Val Gardena won the men's event and Corinna Ghirardi from Brescia won the women's event. Oberbacher was also crowned 2019 national champion. This women's title went to Melanie Dorfmann, who finished the race in third place.

75 athletes took part in the 3rd edition of the Feuerstein Skiraid. The seniors started promptly at 1.250 a.m. at the Erl cross-country skiing center at 9 meters above sea level and had to cover a distance of 20,5 kilometers and 1.680 meters in altitude. The participants reached the highest point “Gruaben” at 2.280 m after almost 13 km. Alex Oberbacher (Bogn Da Nia) from Val Gardena was fastest with a time of 1:49'19.21, followed by Valentino Bacca from the Brenta Team (1:54'26.03). David Thöni from the host club ASV Gossensass came third with a time of 2:01'07.86. In the women's category, last year's winner Corinna Ghirardi from Malonno in the province of Brescia (Adamello Ski) once again proved to be overpowering. Behind her were Giorgia Felicetti from Ski Team Fassa and Melanie Dorfmann from ASD Skialprace Ahrntal. The winner Alex Oberbacher and the third-placed Melanie Dorfmann were celebrated as national champions.

Shortly after the seniors, the youth also started. Nicolas Ploner from ASC Badiasport won the junior male category. Giordan Nagler from ASC Badiasport won in the U17 male category (cadetti), while Hannah Pircher from ASV Gossensass was successful in the same female category. Corinna Ghirardi (2019 winner): “I did very well during the race. The route was similar to last year and so I was able to adapt well to it tactically. The race was perfectly organized and the course was well flagged out.”

Stefanie De Simone (OC manager): “We received a lot of praise from the athletes, especially when it came to the route. It's a shame that we couldn't have held a race like this 14 days ago. This time there were 75 registered starters, two weeks ago, when it was still advertised as a stage of the Italian Cup, there were 170. We hope that next year we will be included in the racing calendar again as a stage of the Italian Cup and that the weather will cooperate .
