Everything is ready for the Marmotta Trophy in the Martell Valley

Everything is ready for the third World Cup competition, which will be held next Saturday and Sunday in the snow of the Martell Valley, just a few kilometers from Meran. Around a hundred athletes from the senior and junior categories from twelve countries are expected. All medalists from the World Championships in Verbier will be at the start: Robert Antonioli, Kilian Jornet Burgada, Damiano Lenzi, Seppi Rottmoser, Xavier Gachet, Laetitia Roux, Axelle Mollaret, Jennifer Fiechter and Marta Garcia Farres. The German Anton Palzer, who suffered a knee injury during the sprint race in Verbier, is not there.

The competitions that bring points towards the World Cup are the Individual Race on Saturday morning and the Sprint Race, which is scheduled to start on Sunday morning at the Martell Biathlon Center. In accordance with the international regulations, the routes of the Individual Race, which lead into the beautiful Stelvio National Park and will also touch the glacier below the Köllkuppe, are different depending on the category.

The Senior and Espoir categories will tackle a 15km route with a total elevation gain of 1677m. The athletes have to complete four ascents and three descents with two sections to be covered on foot with skis in their backpack. For the Senior Women and Junior categories, the route will be approximately 10 km long with a positive elevation gain of 1280 m. Also in this case there are three ascents, two descents and a section on foot.

In the World Cup, the Italians Davide Magnini and Giulia Compagnoni lead the rankings for the Individual Race in the Junior category with 180 points each. In the Espoir category, Anton Palzer and Axelle Mollaret are ahead with 200 points each. In the general class, the French Xavier Gachet (160 points) and Laetitia Roux (200 points) are currently at the top.

In the Sprint Race, Simon Bellabouvier and Giulia Compagnoni lead the rankings in the Junior category. In the Espoir category Anton Palzer and Axelle Mollaret are again at the top, in the Senrio category the French Laetitia Roux and Robert Antonioli lead with 100 points each.

FISI race Simultaneously with the World Cup race, the organizing committee will start a race at 9.30 a.m. on Saturday morning on the World Cup track of the international champions, in which all FISI members can take part. A unique opportunity for “normal” athletes to compete with the gold medalists of the last World Ski Mountaineering Championships, held in Verbier in February.

The third stage of the Scarpa ISMF World Cup will take place in Val Martell on Saturday and Sunday as part of the Marmotta Trophy. The program includes the Individual Race and the Sprint Race.
