Italian ski mountaineers dominate the Marmotta Trophy

Under strict hygiene rules and safety regulations, some of the world's best ski mountaineers met in the rear Martell Valley on Sunday. The individual race for the Marmotta Trophy led up towards Köllkuppe, “Cima Marmotta” in Italian, commonly known as Marmotta Peak. The highest point is around 2970 meters, about 300 meters below the summit cross of the Marmotta Peak.

The dominant nation was Italy. In the men's race, victory went to exceptional athlete Matteo Eydallin from Piedmont. He reached the finish after 1:43.27,8 hours and ultimately celebrated a confident World Cup victory. The Swiss Bonnet Rémi prevented an Italian double victory with second place. He relegated Robert Antonioli from Lombard to third place in an exciting duel. Alex Oberbacher from Val Gardena landed in 1th place with a time of 47.39:11 hours.

In the women's competition, however, Tove Alexandersson was ahead. The Swede won with a big lead over Axelle Gachet Mollaret (France), Alba De Silvestro (Italy) and 3 other Azzurre.
