The organizers have been busy with the final preparation work on the race tracks for several days and local hero Manfred Reichegger is taking the time to look at the race track up close: “The snow conditions are good and the track is perfect. Fortunately, the high temperatures of the past few days haven't had much of an impact on her, as we are relatively high up here. “I am very confident,” was the analysis of the multiple world, European and Italian champion from the neighboring Mühlwald valley, who is undoubtedly one of the favorites on the two racing days.

The big names in touring sports meet in the Ahrntal The world's elite ski mountaineers will be present in the Ahrntal valley with everyone of rank and name. Ten nations are currently registered and of course the great champions of today, such as the Spaniards Kilian Jornet Burgada and Mireia Mirò Varela, the newly crowned Italian vertical champions Michele Boscacci and Gloriana Pellissier and local hero Manfred Reichegger, to name just a few. They are all dying to finally be able to tackle this year's World Cup: the time has come on Saturday, January 12th with the vertical race and on Sunday, January 13th with the individual race.

Open races open to all licensed athletes The racing days in Ahrntal are not only reserved for World Cup athletes, but are also intended for licensed amateur athletes from home and abroad, as they are also national FISI races and stages of this year's South Tyrol Cup. Many amateur ski mountaineers from Trentino-Alto Adige, the northern Italian provinces and neighboring countries are expected in Weißenbach to compete with the champions on the same routes. Registrations are open until Friday January 11th at 12.00:XNUMX p.m.

Excellent security and rescue system in place In order to guarantee the safety of the athletes to the highest degree, the Carabinieri mountain rescue service, 14 specialized soldiers from the mountain troops, the financial guard with 6 mountain rescuers and 1 helicopter will be present at the races in the Ahrntal. In addition, the state weather and avalanche warning service of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano creates daily personalized weather and avalanche reports for the Ahrntal and will keep the situation and its development, with a view to the races, under observation in the coming days.

Rich and varied supporting program In order to make the waiting times more entertaining for the many expected spectators, the organizing committee around Andreas Huf has put together a rich entertainment program, which will mainly take place in the large forest festival tent in the start/finish area in Weißenbach. A typical tent festival with great music and down-to-earth cuisine will delight everyone who follows the ski touring races from the valley, while the champions fight for every inch of track.
