Ski tourers have determined their Italian champions in the Ahrntal

Once again it is Robert Antonioli who asserted himself at the SkiAlpRace Ahrntal, after winning last year, and this year also takes home the Italian championship title in the general class. It was a race dedicated to catching up, after teammate Michele Boscacci was at times able to gain a lead of up to 30 seconds over the chasing duo Antonioli-Maguet. Only in the long descent from the Henne (2.478 m) towards the finish, where Boscacci suffered a fall and the loss of his skis, was Robert Antonioli able to exploit his well-known strength in the descent and overtake his opponent and teammate Boscacci shortly before the finish. The race started promptly at 10 a.m. and the military team around Boscacci, Antonioli, Maguet, Reichegger, Eydallin and Lenzi immediately took the lead. There the three strongest athletes, Antonioli, Boscacci and Maguet, showed their form until the end. Robert Antonioli finishes the race first with a time of 1h40'34'', around 11.2'' ahead of Michele Boscacci and 40.7'' ahead of Nadir Maguet. There was a triple victory for the athletes of the Italian national team ahead of Federico Nicolini from the Brenta Team (+1'54'') and the other two military athletes Matteo Eydallin (+3'00'') and the 41-year-old local hero and multiple world champion Manfred Reichegger ( +3'17'') from Mühlwald. Martin Weißkopf, the Austrian who was third here last year, only came eighth. The best South Tyrolean amateur was the young Val Gardena native Alex Oberbacher, who runs for the Bogn da Nia team from the Fassa Valley and took 9th place, just ahead of the two Val Badia residents Lois Craffonara and Michael Moling, who dueled in an exciting finish sprint.

Alba De Silvestro is in a class of its own For the young and strong athlete of the military sports group Alba De Silvestro it was a race to behold, not only because she dominated from the start and brought home the victory with virtually no competition, but above all because it is the first Italian championship title in the general class for her, who is already newly crowned U23 Italian champion. The athlete from Padola in Comelico finished the race in 1h45'21'' and left her direct opponent Katia Tomatis from Piedmont behind by almost four minutes. The sister of the new Italian champion, Martina De Silvestro, came third ahead of Corinna Ghirardi, Dimitra Theocharis and Margit Zulian from Fassan.

Antiga and Sartogo Masters Italian champions

The Trentino athlete of the Brenta team, Ivan Antiga, was able to prevail in the category of those born before 1972, covering the 16,5 km route with 1700 m+ in 2h01'23''. He beat national athlete Michele Boscacci's father, Graziano Boscacci, by +2'32'' and the strong South Tyrolean Franz Pfattner by +3'48''. In the women's category, the “eternal” Monica Sartogo (US Alto Moro) once again became Masters Italian champion ahead of Astrid Renzler from Pustr and Ilaria Cavallari from Val Rendena in third place.

South Tyrol victories in the youth categories

The SkialpRace Ahrntal was also counted as the Italian Cup, South Tyrol Cup and as an international race in the ISMF series, so that athletes from abroad also took part. In the male cadets, the strong Austrian Paul Verbnjak prevailed, in the junior females Vivien Senn from Wipptal was the best, while in the male juniors the victory went to Friulian Ruben Del Negro.

Robert Antonioli (winner): “Today luck was on my side and gave me the victory and the Italian championship title. I particularly like this race because the technical descents always benefit me. I was able to overtake Boscacci on the descent and I am therefore very satisfied”.

Manfred Reichegger (6th place): “At 41 years old, I can only be satisfied with 6th place. I also helped choose the route and knew every meter, which of course benefited me.”

Alba De Silvestro (winner): “I am currently collecting Italian championship titles and I hope that the collection will grow even larger. It is my first Italian championship title in the general class and I am also very happy that my sister Martina is on the podium with me”.
