1 month before the Olympics: Who is certain, likely or maybe there?

Every two years the fight for the coveted Olympic tickets flares up again. While South Tyrol's athletes only have a handful of starting places at stake in the summer, there are several dozen at the Winter Games. Four years ago, 48 South Tyroleans took part in the Olympic start in Sochi.

There will be a similar number in South Korea. In January there are still important competitions in most sports that will finally shape the Olympic field. Nevertheless, quite reliable forecasts are already possible. Since there are very different qualification criteria for the individual sports and the personal decisions of the team bosses and ultimately the CONI's approval decide, the chances of participation must be classified differently. And of course no injuries can get in the way.

SportNews took a close look at the candidates sport by sport and classified them using Olympic rings as an assessment: 5 rings are given to the fixed starters, 4 to the almost certain participants, 3 to the candidates with good chances, 2 to the possible starters and 1 ring to those athletes who hardly still have a chance at the Olympics.

In exactly one month, on February 9th, at 12 p.m. CET (20 p.m. local time) the XXIII. Winter Olympics open. And numerous South Tyrolean winter sports enthusiasts will once again be at the opening ceremony. Who has the best cards?
