Everything is ready: the World Cup can begin in Carezza

The opening event of the Alpine Snowboard World Cup was officially presented on Thursday at a press conference at the Hotel Laurin in Bolzano. The organizers from Karerpass greeted the numerous journalists, sponsor representatives and the children of the “WorldCup 4 Youth” school project with a broad smile. “We really have reason to be happy because things have never looked so good two weeks before the race date. Last night there was another 25 cm of new snow. The World Cup slope is now perfectly prepared,” revealed piste manager Georg Eisath. OK boss Andreas Obkircher agreed with him: “We are still working on the details. A new, large video wall is being built. We are also making small preparations with a view to hosting it as a green event. This year we want to work sustainably in all aspects.”

Children create a mood

Obkircher and his team have once again come up with something special to attract even more spectators to the edge of the slopes. The snowboard event is under the banner of the “WorldCup 4 Youth” project, which is carried out in collaboration with several schools. The children will study the sport and the race in Carezza in detail beforehand and then follow the action live on site on race day.

Not only are the young winter sports fans and the hosts in Carezza looking forward to the snowboard races, but also Hermann Ambach, the president of the state winter sports association: “I will especially keep my fingers crossed for the local snowboarders. I would be happy about a podium finish, it would be the perfect start to the Olympic winter." Welschnofen's first citizen, Markus Dejori, is also already looking forward to the major event: "As mayor, I am of course very proud to see an event of international renown in my community to be able to align. Many from the village community help out as volunteers, so the anticipation is palpable everywhere.”

As in previous years, entry to the finish area is free. The athletes will start their first training sessions on Monday, December 11th. On Wednesday evening (18 p.m.) the official opening ceremony with the start number draw will take place in the marquee in the finish area. The racing begins on Thursday, December 14th from 8.45:12.30 a.m. when the first qualifying runs take place. The final decisions will finally be made at XNUMX p.m.
