Already 19 podium places for South Tyrol's winter athletes

The men's giant slalom was particularly celebrated in Alta Badia, where Florian Eisath finished third and climbed onto a World Cup podium for the first time in his career. The 32-year-old from Eggental is the fourth South Tyrolean to be on the podium at the Alpine event this year, after Manfred Mölgg, Dominik Paris and Peter Fill.

For star biathlete Dorothea Wierer, a podium finish is almost a habit. On Saturday, the 26-year-old racer took second place in the pursuit in the Czech Republic, and on Sunday she crowned her weekend with third place in the mass start race. For Wierer it was the fourth podium finish this winter and the 25th of her career.

The weekend couldn't have gone better for South Tyrol's snowboarders. On Friday, Omar Visintin took second place in the boardercross in Montafon (Austria), on Saturday Roland Fiwickeler also achieved his 30th podium finish in his career with second place in the parallel slalom in Cortina. Nadya Ochner was also able to celebrate there. She finished third. For the Burgstaller, it was her third podium finish overall. On Sunday the local snowboard crossers went one better. Omar Visintin and Emanuel Perathoner took a strong second place.

South Tyrol's strongest tobogganer Dominik Fiwickeler shone in the artificial track tobogganing. He finished on the podium for the first time this season at the weekend. And that twice. The 23-year-old from Mühlbach won the sprint race in Park City (USA) and came third in the individual.
