Carezza is looking forward to the World Cup opening

It has been customary for years that the FIS Snowboard World Cup starts the new season in South Tyrol. This tradition will be continued this year when winter sports enthusiasts stop at the foot of the Latemar for the seventh time on December 14th.

Already now, almost a month before the parallel giant slalom takes place, hard work is going on in the race office and along the Pra di Tori piste. The recent snowfalls along the southern main ridge of the Alps are playing into the World Cup organizers' hands. The World Cup route is embedded in deep natural snow, and the snow cannons have been running at full speed for days. Numerous helpers are working almost around the clock to ensure that everything is set up perfectly when the world's best snowboarders compete in the first qualifying runs early in the morning on Thursday, December 14th.

Numerous athletes from the host nation will once again be taking part in these - including the South Tyrolean local heroes Roland Fiwickeler, Christoph Mick, Aaron March, Edwin Coratti and Nadya Ochner, all of whom are aiming for a top placing. “The opening race is particularly important. On the one hand, because it is played in front of a home crowd, and on the other hand, because it can give you a big motivation boost for the rest of the season. “I’m really looking forward to Carezza,” reveals Ochner, who was already on the podium in the ski resort on the border with Trentino in 2014.

Carezza is looking forward to the World Cup opening

Athletes, organizers and winter sports fans still have to wait exactly four weeks before the Olympic season for alpine snowboarders opens in the Carezza ski area. The World Cup slope is already presented in magnificent white.
